As an English teacher (EFL/ESL) is important that the students feel comfortable, relaxed and exited to learn. This is the reason a Teacher and a student must feel conected to each other, in order to create an interaction in the classroom.

Most teacher have experienced classes in which students interactions has been more limited than they would like, with students becoming reticent when asked to talk about some subject with a partner.

Forms of interaction:

*Teacher-student

*student-teacher

*student-student

Most people agree that learning anything involves participation. Learning a language facilitates the communication, interaction in that language must have an important role to play in developing a learner’s ability in that language.

Motivation is a fundamental aspect of succesful learning. Interaction gives learners the opportunity to use language successfully and to measure their progress which in turn should lead to an increase in motivation.

Problems when trying to increase the interaction

As a teacher, we can face some problems when trying to increase interaction in the learning classroom. Interaction seems so desirable and sensible in theory but actually, promoting and increasing it can be an uphill struggle.

Here are some reasons of these problems:

*Students resistance

*Self-consciouness

*Large classes

*Mixed abilities

*Lack of motivation

To solve some of these problems, as teachers, we must identify the problem in the learning classroom and try to help the learners to succeed, including the student in the teaching process will be very helpful.

Some others actions that the teacher could use are: (1) Analyse the task before using them in order to predict what language is critical achivement. (2) Use brainstorming before the task and put them on the board so that the learners have planty of things to talk about. (3) Plan to give some thinking time before starting a task during which the student is able to ask for support. (4) Try to make a clear feedback to the class. (5) Provide the learners a reason to speak and listen activities.

As a conclusion, we could say that interaction helps learners to develop language learning and social skills and maximising interaction in the classroom is an important part of the teacher’s role. Teachers need to promote learners interaction in order to help the learners to succeed.
